The Forbidden Art: Another Side, Another Story

Ok. I know Marluxia and (I think) Kurama get quite a bit of flack about using flower-based attacks because of the "sissy-sissy-gay gay" factor of it people seem to associate. I'm not 100% sure which way it'll go, really.

Kind-of do want to make it a guy for originallity, but at the same time I had an idea that if it was a girl, she could have a flower in her hair or something that changes type with her mood. And while that would be fun to play around with, it's not exactly something you can put on a guy without people saying stuff about it....

Kurama only caught flak until people remembered he was a badass fox demon. After that the whole gay commentary on him kinda went away.

But yeah, having a female floramancer would still probably be best, since it allows for more versatile use of the ability without any unfortunate commentary. Plus, the whole flower-in-her-hair-moodring idea sounds like it could work really well.

An alternative would be your male character using a more "nature" approach of magic. Instead of simply focusing on flowers and/or plants, you could control the aspect of nature the way a Druid does. In a way, it would be kind of a variant of an Earth Mage. Not to be confused with Jackal's way of using earth magic though, he's purely focused on manipulating earth and basic natural aspect (such as wood and rock) into destructive spells.

Kind-of had an idea for a concept with her, but not sure if it would be OK with Aro or not.... For whatever reason, I just like playing with the idea of magic taking control of the mage.

So she's got the flower in her hair that changes color with her mood, and I was thinking of having a network of vines or like roots running down her back and along her arms, kind-of infused into her skin. And then she could use them so she'd have something to form the flowers or plants from instead of just hoping there's a fertile patch of dirt somewhere. Since it's so connected to her, that's the reason her hair-flower changes with her mood. So she'd be really vulnerable to paladins and Manaflayers, but be able to use magic anywhere.

Then I started thinking and had the much creepier idea that the her magic could potentially take over her body. Like her head just twists around, snapping her neck a little in a creepy fasion, until her hair-flower's facing forward. Then it could open up and have a face made out of leaves or something and just go nuts with magic!

It's one of those concepts that something tells me people will either find cool, or disturbing as s***..... So I'd like to know which one it is. If people think it's a horrible idea and magic can't do that in this world, I'll just have her use it as a weapon or something, I'll figure out a way to use the head-flower one way or another.

If it's overly confusing, ok. But at least you get the point. Things go bad, then you can see certain death around *pointing randomly at the character* Here here here here and especially here around the thorns. Flower-based magic.... It's nothing to [censored] with. She probably won't go that crazy with the plants in the RP, though.... And in case you're wondering where the violin went, she put it down. There's NOTHING you can use a violin for in combat without damaging the instrument or using music-based magic. Which would be cool, but don't think it would really work in TFA for anything other than keeping the attacks in a pace or something. And, honestly, there's probably better ways to do that then bringing an instrument into battle. Although I might make her try it at least once just to see what would happen....

EDIT: Figured out item layering, so the first image is getting slightly updated. Also, so because I found the parts for it, here's an image of her at some kind of party or something. Maybe even a concert? After all, as a musician, she would be making some public appearences in the Chosen Village.... Not alone, mind you, but still. Not sure if it'll edit Shirat's image, but at least that means there's something for comparison.

Thought I might as well keep people a little updated on how the character's coming. I've had the idea to give her some amnesia that activates with an unknown trigger. So her memory's constantly being reset to basic knolage. She would know who she is and muscle-based stuff like playing her instrument and how to fight, but wouldn't remember who The Chosen are or anyone she was already familiar with. In fact, the verry concept she's forgetting seems rediculous to her every time she hears it.

So The Chosen have to constantly keep an eye on her for her own good and keep someone with her incase she loses her memory for whatever reason. Without them, she'd be discovered as a mage really quickly, she'd get scammed out of all her money because she doesn't learn from her mistakes and keeps forgetting about them, probably kidnapped or something.... It will definately be difficult to have a relationship with her unless you're cleaver and figure out what triggers her memory loss and get your character to realize it happens.

So far, I'm really liking how the character's coming along. Half the fun will be figuring out how this works and I'm not telling anyone because I know people would use it to metagame. But, rest assured, it does make sense and there is a reason for it. Also, planning on basing her personallity on Madame Reisz from The Awakening, because that's easilly the best character in the book and I thought it could be fun to see what I could do with it.

I think it really captures the kind-of tragedy of her amnesia situation while still going on to something that works off of her adventurous or more high-spirited nature. Now, I've just got to set everything together in a bio.... But it's all basically here, so......... Yeah. I like to try and make sure my characters have stuff going on. Makes them feel more complete.

I'll be more than interested to interact with her. Not only her amnesia would interest Jackal, but she's somewhat related to earth, so yeah, you can figure out the interest.

Gender: Female

Race: Tiger Demon, as she was called by the humans around her clan.

Age: 24

Class: Rogue

*Appearance: Jay is a rather short female, roughly 5 feet 2 inches. However, she makes up for her size with the sheer power and speed of her small frame. She has slim shoulders and overall physique, and uses this to squeeze herself in small places, much like a feline would. Her black hair falls just over the top of her shoulder blades, but she almost always puts it up into a neat-yet-messy ponytail/bun type deal. When it's down, it's shaggy and layered, with the ends curling outward just slightly. Her eyes are black, with small flecks of red in them, nearly invisible unless the light hits her the right way, or you're close enough. They match her tigeress tail, which flicks about near her ankles. It is predominantly black with red stripes. Of course, she has the ears to match. These are often hidden, as they draw too much attention to herself, especially in a world where no one would be happy to see a creature like her.

*Items/Apparel: She wears low-fitting black pants, stretchy and baggy, so she can fight with the ease of movement. She also wears a black tight shirt, up to just below her ribcage. Over this, she likes to swish about in a full-length cloak, hood drawn, and black as night. She's nothing if not original. She keeps a leather quiver on her back, her fathers, in which she holds her arrows and shurikens. She keeps two serrated daggers in hip holsters, as well as a throwing knife in her right calf holster. Her flat-soled boots are made of a tough leather, made for padding through the trees and climbing soundlessly.

Personality: She's sarcastic as a defense mechanism, and irritable to boot. She doesn't let anything cloud her judgement or change how she thinks. Never has she shied away from a fight, even if she was outnumbered or out-matched. Most of those fights break out due to her witty mouth and refusal to keep her opinion to herself. Deep down, however, she just wants a friend to trust. Of course, there's no one FOR her to trust nowadays.

History: She'll never tell anyone, but that's only to be expected. Nearly her entire race was wiped out in a bout of sickness and murder. Her father fell ill and died, her mother abandoned her and took her sister to a 'safe place'. They are presumed dead. Jay only walks the land in search of some peace. She wants nothing more than bloodshed, anything to make up for her clan and family dying for the hatred of others. She knows very well nothing will bring them back, but she is also certain that the spilling of their murder's blood will sate her thirst for revenge.

Slight problem now.... Navi might be away from posting for a while and apparently there's people waiting for the next day to post. So if time moves forward, anything Nate and Shadows might have done this night will probably have to be implied, if anything happens. Still have to ask her about that.

Also, I can't post and get anything going with my other character idea until there's someone at The Chosen village for her to react to. Mainly because, short of making a careless NPC, she'd probably be burned since she's too willing to use her magic. Really, the only way to get her out that doesn't feel like cheating things is if a player character escorts her out. And I think most everyone's already posted thier character being outside the village except for Vulk's invisible murderer and Jay Skyla (if she gets accepted)

What I'm really concerned about is skipping develoupment with Nate....... At best, if it takes a while for Navi to get things sorted out, he can leave her character heartbroken in the middle of the night and not be effected by whatever they did. Which is why I really do need to get a new character going if I want to RP....

Heya Jay.. the tiger demon race. Demons, as a whole, are usually not accepted in TFA due to OPness (same goes for angels and such) but if it's a tiger demon just to change appearance and have some enhanced skills (better eyesight, stronger, act) then I'd let it slide.

Sorry, really should have clarified. ^^' She isn't a demon like an OP rah-I hate the world!! kind of demon. That's just what the people called her kind. They really are just Kitsune or any other type of transforming race. You know, with the foxish character and agility, sense of smell, and the like. That was just the best way for me to name it at the time. It's being a pain about it now, however xD

Finally finished. Well, that is one walking piece of drama waiting to happen. Points to whoever figures out what sets off her amnesia first because, otherwise, they could kick a lasting relationship out the window.

Also, I think we might actually need more male characters. And a list of characters. I honestly don't know how much of each gender we have, but it feels one-sided... which is odd, since we had the exact opposite problem in the original TFA.
Name: Reisz Lamont

Gender: Female

Race: Human

Age: 24

Class: Plant Mage

*Appearance: Has fair skin and green eyes that seem to shine. Normally wears her dark hair up in a bundle. While she's not the strongest person, she keeps herslef in shape. Mostly, Reisz has a sort of innocent feel off of her, like she's not entirely sure what's going on at times and needs someone to protect her. She can always be found with a flower in her hair. Not because she likes wearing it, but because it's a part of a parasitic plant that was implanted into her body at a young age so she could use magic easier. The flower changes type and color depending on her mood and has two vines attatched, normally hidden in her hair. One of then is only attatched to the flower, but the other one runs down her head out of sight and into the back of her neck. If you look closely, you can see the feint pattern of vines going down her spine and curving around to her arms and legs, growing more visable until it gets to her arms and hands. Without her gloves, anyone could tell she's a mage at first glance.

*Items/Apparel: Carries around a violin and it's bow with a case on her back at all times. The instrument is VERRY valuble to her and she would do anything to keep it from getting damaged in any way. Normally, she wears a pair of gloves to hide her hands, where the plant-magic is most obvious and usable. Wears a white-tan sleeveless shirt with a slightly low-cut top and a short black skirt. Over that, Reisz wears a fancy black coat that makes her shoulders look a little "poof-ier" and goes down each arm. The length of the coat ends with a ruffled section that goes around ankle-length, but doesn't cover the verry front of her. She also has a belt that goes over her coat and around the waist of her outfit, connecting to a red bow in the back, and wears a choker around her neck with a red ribbon. If nothing else, Reisz likes people to think she's better-off than she is at first glance.

Personality: Reisz wants people to think she's more innocent and wealthy than she actually is. Which is partially true, to an extent.... For unknown reasons, Reisz often experiences memory loss with an unknown trigger. Every time it happens, she knows who she is and how to play, but has to become re-introduced to other people and told who The Chosen are again dispite living in thier Village. It is for this reason that she is so engrossed in her music. While strange people come and go, her violin is always with her. Once she's finally re-adjusted from her amnesia, Reisz shows her more sarcastic personallity. The more people around her that she can trust, the more suspicious she grows of newer people. Usually, she has a tendency to go along with The Chosen's plans... but only because she usually talks to them first after her amnesia. Her greatest weakness is that she cannot leave the Village without an escort. Otherwise, if she lost her memory, she'd be scammed out of her money, found out to be a mage and burned at the stake, and never be able to find her way back to the Village on her own....

**History: Not even Reisz herself really knows. Only that she's an accomplished musucian and has had quite a bit of trouble with strange men who were each probably in a relationship with her at one time before she lost her memory and pushed them away. However, thankfully, by checking the records Reisz knows she never married any of them and wants to move on.

Logged every character bio that was (hopefully) accepted. We currently have 13 men, 11 alive and 9 untaken. Compared to 9 women, 7 untaken.
 
Hopefully, Aro takes this and puts it in the first post. I miss knowing exactly how much of what we've got in the RP....

Pretty sure that's how Greyson Baku happened, really. Except it was like a dude and a male ghost and a woman but the ghose got in as well, but he doesn't take after the mother really so it's kind-of like just between the two guys, but that's gross and makes no sense.... It's a really complex situation.
