Earth after man

Not doing this yet....


The years have passed unnoticed for so long that they can no longer be guessed. A few of the oldest animals still retain enough of their ancestors instincts to vaguely recollect the human race, but even the memory of humans will soon be lost. This world, once called Earth, belongs now to the creatures that once crawled on their bellies and bowed to the higher form of life that was man.

Civilization is gone, cities that once blotted out skylines are little more than rubble, and the world is a far more dangerous place than it has ever been.

Who are you? You are an animal. You have evolved into something stronger, faster, and smarter than your distant ancestors. You can speak, you are able to consider yourself and your identity, you are unique.

So what is it that draws you to this place? Some say that it is holy ground, that it was consecrated by the humans long ago to be a gathering place for kindred spirits. Those that know, would say that the thing at work here is far more sinister. Animals have lived on this planet as long, or longer, than man; but now something else has come to lay claim to the Earth in the absence of man. They are an alien species, and they have no grasp of the higher forms of thought passed down from the humans to the animals. Pity, mercy, remorse, love… these are abstract concepts to these creatures and they feel none of it. So, do they come to fight? Not in the way that you may believe. Certainly they are violent and ruthless, but if there is one thing that supersedes their will to destroy, it is their will to compete and dominate.

As they have done on countless planets before this one, they will give the animals a chance to maintain their freedom and way of life. Here, in the ruins of the great New York City, a task will be given to a small group of would-be heroes. Their success or failure will determine the fate of all animals on Earth...


The premise is pretty self-explanatory, but just to be entirely clear. Humanity is completely dead and gone. Humans are entirely extinct for a long time. Animals of all kinds have evolved into something more like men. They can speak, think creatively, and some can even walk erect or have opposable thumbs. A mysterious alien race has come to Earth and, with the use of highly advanced technology, brought together a small band of animals. Once they are all gathered together, they will be given a task. The task will involve a long journey, wrought with dangers of all kinds. If they succeed, the invaders leave. If they fail, all animals will be enslaved forever.

You can be any real animal that still lived as of the year 2016. That includes insects, birds, fish, reptiles, amphibians, mammals, and anything else...

Tech depends on who you are and where you come from. Obviously it would make sense for an evolved dolphin or chimpanzee to build better tech than an evolved turkey. Still if the turkey happened to come from a large society and their evolution just happened to be directly related to ingenuity... Well then who knows. The absolute limit for tech would be something like steampunk machines.

Abilities and traits should be directly related to the animal you choose. So an iguana cannot shoot fire from its eyes cause... they can't.
