Tsera'shul sighed, "I shall... try. I'm not sure whether the resonance is compatible though," She said as she approached the other orb, closing her eyes and focusing. an elven mutter tranlated to "Open up your senses..." left her lips as she listened directly to the beat of the earth, and found the slightly altered tempo stemming from where the ash elf stood.

She held her hand out to the orb before her and nodded, "Ready to channel when you are Valestia."

"I am ready." the wraith answered. "I will do what I can to synchronize our flows but you will likely be taking the brunt of the workload, Maestro." With that said the ash elf placed her second hand on the orb and felt her power slipping from her veins it was quite an uncomfortable feeling and Valestia immediately pulled back.
"I'm sorry..." she said clutching her hand "I was not prepared for that feeling."

The mysterious vampire lady watched with keen interest as her eyes followed the two woman she had asked to make the bridge work. She wasn’t sure herself if the magic of the bridge would be working after all those centuries left unused, but she had confidence into those two magic users, she had to.

While they might have been reluctant as they felt the orbs draining their spiritual energies as soon as it came in contact with their hands, their determination to save the world might have just been enough to muster their strengths and propel it into the crystalline sphere. For a few minutes, the thrill was at its peak when flashes of pearl-white energy rushed from conduits underneath the pillars and went towards the bridge, materialized what seemed to be a faint walkway from one side of the gorge to the other. However, the bridge wasn’t quite stable, as its shape seemed to shift momentarily from time to time.

Khalina neared the bridge and took a look at it, turning towards the Ash Elf necromancer “Miss Valestia, pour more power into the orb!” she shouted as the hum of magic vibrating throughout the canyon could be heard quite loudly. The Dark Elf then turned to the Maestro, who had been so far quiet but in control. As Valestia spended more magic into the bridge’s orbs, so did Tsera’shul as she tried to keep up with the necromancer’s mana flow, tapping from her understanding of the world’s beat to synchronize her own flow to Valestia’s.

After minutes that seemed to be hours of efforts and sweating, the crystal balls brightly shone of white energy, levitating just a few inches from their sockets. From the foundations of the bridge, the translucent bridge became of opaque solid ivory, just as if the magical walkway had transformed into a bridge made of sculpted ivory or bone.

Smiling cheerfully under her hood, Khalina went nearer of the bridge and stepped on it, one foot at a time. Her worries were swept away as she stood a few feet on the newly-made passage, the ivory material supporting her without cracking or showing even a single sign of weakness. With hidden glee, she returned to Valestia and Tsera’shul.

“I knew I could count on you. You have done very well. It takes days, even weeks, for mages to synchronize with one another to materialize this bridge. But you two have done it in merely minutes.” She said with clear surprise in her usually condescending tone.

Turning now towards the group, the cloaked guide walked to her horse and mounted it. She then pointed towards the other side of the bridge. “Let us cross Cutthroat Gorge. We still have some traveling left to do before we reach the jungle.”

Satchel did not understand the way those around her spoke about killing. She never understood much of what the feather wearing elf said at all, but she was used to at least being able to follow along with what the others were saying. Why did they have to make things so complicated? Killing is about self-preservation, plain and simple. She wasn't even sure what all their words meant. Harmony, vanity, desecrate, the list quickly grew too long for her to bother asking.

While she was distracted by trying to wrap her head around what the others were discussing two of the elves made a bridge appear over the gorge. "Wow, that came out of freaking nowhere! How did you do that?" The little elf shouted clapping her hands vigorously.

After what seemed like forever, the bridge finally appeared. "Took you two long enough, i could of probably done it quicker on my own." Aaron thought to himself as Khalina congratulated them on forming the bridge.

"If there's still traveling to be done, lets continue. There's no point in hanging about." Aaron says lightly impatiently. He says as he cracks his neck, before starting to walk onto the bridge.

Satchel cringed when the blood knight cracked his neck again. She found the frequency at which he did so infuriating. The noise it made was too similar to the snapping of bone. It reminded the forest dweller of the clubs and traps that poachers brought into her woods and the way they maimed her subjects. She began to fret over what may happen while she was away. She should have asked for advanced payment.

She darted over to the bridge in a hurry to complete their task so she could return home. Of course, haste would do no good if it got her killed. Watching the much heavier man cross before her was not enough to convince her of the integrity of the structure that had not been there just moments before. She needed to test it herself. First she got on her hands and knees and pat the base of the bridge. It seemed sturdy to the touch. The rough stones did not give the slightest bit no matter how hard she pressed down. Still not satisfied she stood up and jumped up and down at the edge of the bridge, staying close enough that she could grab the rock face of the gorge if she phased through the magically formed construct. When she finally trusted that the bridge would hold, she sprinted across not stopping for a second until she was safe on the other side just in case she was wrong.

"Come on guys! We're almost too the jungle. I think I can see it from here." She shouted waving across to the others. She hoped the bridge would hold and that the others would not fall through, or at least that Ser Orok and Bal made is across safely. At the time she should have checked with their guide if the King's men would be able to pursue them across the bridge, but the thought was pushed to the side first by the peril of crossing the bridge and later by the excitement of seeing a jungle for the first time. As her feelings boiled over she began to cheerfully chant while pumping her arms. "Jungle, jungle, jungle, jungle."

Bal was the next one over the bridge. Being careful to avoid the edges he followed the elf across. Little by little he made his way across, Satchel happily humming to herself as she waited for the others. The fact that two of his compatriots had made it over without difficulty was encouraging enough to let him move without hesitation.

The bridge seemed steady and step-by-step he walked forward in even, measured strides.

Finally he reached the other end and was on solid ground once more, and he let loose a silent sigh of relief. It need not be said the one fear he had not yet conquered was of heights.

The irony wasn't lost to the Gladiator. He was so used to facing his foes on the ground - and he was happy to be on solid earth once more. The wide open gorge and the sheer size of the drop made him nervous, but he was careful to keep his face from betraying that anxiety, even as he beckoned the next of the group over.

"We are making good progress." He said, deciding it was time to offer a little encouragement. "Let's hurry. The enemy will not be give us much time to regroup."

Turning back around, he eyed the treeline warily - though hearing Satchel's enthusiasm boiling over, his expression softened and he gave a slight smile.

I hope we make it swiftly through the Jungle. He thought. The longer he stared, the more it seemed to beckon him, even though that was impossible. The jungle was a vibrant, living place - but this was different. It felt as though they were somehow being watched. We are far from home now, and we still have a long way to go yet. We're making good time, so why do I have this feeling of dread?

A chill took hold of the Gladiator, though as the next of the group walked over the bridge, he kept his face carefully forward.

Making their way to the bridge, the group quickly made it to the other side of the bridge. Khalina was amused to see how some of the people in the group were extremely wary of the newly-built bridge, especially the young elf who had been measuring its strength by gradually stomping on it. When they reached one end of the bridge, the guide looked behind here, where the outpost on the other side was standing. Hearing out what the Gladiator had said about pressing on, the vampire lady nodded.

“With the remaining soldiers we have spared, they will report to the King, and he is sure to know that there is a group of adventurers heading towards Shadow Vale. He’ll surely be even more interested in our group now that he would know that we somehow managed to make the bridge work after centuries of being unused. We’ll have to watch ourselves from now on.” Khalina vaguely answered to Bal, serving as a warning for what lies ahead at the same time.

Before they continued onwards toward the road, the Dark Maiden dismounted from her horse and walked towards one of the pillars that were connecting the bridge to the other pillars. So much as of a sudden, her hand balled up tightly and punched the pillar she was standing in front of. The sudden gesture would make people wonder what exactly she was doing, until the loud sound of cracking could be heard from the bridge. Fissures formed on the pearl-white solid bridge, before it overwhelmed the structure and eventually collapsed. Chunks of the bridge fell down into the chasm for a few seconds before vanishing out of thin air, the same way it had appeared first-hand.

“That should spare us some time, but there is no turning back now.” Khalina stated as she returned to her steed.

With everything settled, the group of would-be heroes travelled forward towards the immense jungle, which was visible even from here. By the time they would reach the borders of the dense forest, the sun would be setting over the horizon, calling for the night. As the moon began to show up when the sky was deep purple with lines of crimson at the far end of the world, Khalina had brought the group to a halt, in front of the jungle that was standing right in front of them. Despite the sun that was still giving a faint illumination, nothing could be seen inside the forest, a veil of darkness cloaking its interior.

“I suggest we set up camp here for the night. The jungle of Shadow Veil is extremely dangerous at night, and it is a known fact that it is easier to get lost in these mysterious woods at such time.” The vampire guide advised.

Pyxis, after making herself acquainted with the group, decided to keep following them. She was like a gnat to sweaty athletes, hovering annoyingly and buzzing loudly. She was at the bridge with them. She forgot that many people weren't capable of flight like she was and became increasingly bored with the situation. She flew out to the middle of the chasm, flying from left to right and nearly taunting the group.

"Hey, hey listen!" She exclaimed, "It's like a four thousand foot drop from here," She explained, looking down, "I really don't envy you guys, not having wings or anything," She looked down, allowing her body to drop lower, "That'd definitely hurt. I wonder what a person pancake looks like?"

Despite her gory statements, the group slowly and steadily made it across. Pyxis had no problem with this and probably could have gone far ahead of the band of miscreants but felt something off with the aura in the area. She knew she didn't stand a chance if something evil would pop out, so she just lingered towards the rear. The safe, cozy, tactfully easier to run away from everything, rear. What appeared to be the leader, or just the guide, of the group recommended to make camp. Pyxis agreed. She didn't feel tired but she was far from home and in a very unfamiliar place. Not only that, but she hadn't been able to really get to know people that well. By get to know, she meant rummaging through their stuff.

"I think we should listen to the quiet black one," Pyxis chimed in, "And I can take first watch!" She volunteered gleefully. If everyone was sleeping, nobody was watching their bags.

Kingdom of Bones - IC - - Page 4 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Kingdom of Bones - IC -   Kingdom of Bones - IC - - Page 4 EmptySun Aug 03, 2014 5:58 pm

As the sun's light faded as they day passed so did her enthusiasm. By twilight her once boisterous chanting had waned to a slow quiet drone of "jungle, jungle, jungle," on to be reignited when the group finally made it to the edge of the tree line. She paid no heed to the warnings of her comrades. The way she saw it they were just spouting the obvious. Of course the jungle was more dangerous at night, everywhere was more dangerous at night than during the day, but she would rather take her chances in the thick trees than out in the open on the ground , and sleeping in a city under any circumstance was completely out of the question. Instead of staying with the others she sprung forward and scrambled up the nearest tree. She leaped carelessly yet silently from branch to branch. Before they had reached the Shadow Veil she had wanted nothing more than to go home, but this was so much better in her eyes. "It's just like my forest but more so!" she shouted to no one in particular. She was alone now. It would take a normal human the better part of an hour to get as deep into the jungle as she had in just a few short minutes. She stopped suddenly before reaching the middle of the forest. Several moments passed as she stood completely frozen high above the ground. Staying out in the open suddenly no longer seemed like such a terrible idea to the little elf.
