Give me just a minute of your time,
So you can see what I can’t say,
Let me explain without speaking,
The words written on my soul,
My fear had enveloped me,
I couldn’t bear to hurt again,
So, I threw my heart into the abyss,
I wanted it to heal and scar in the darkness,
But it didn’t heal, it didn’t scar,
It just turned to stone,
My anxiety grew like a weed,
And choked the life out of my voice,
The melody that rang was silenced,
And I had lost my song,
Then I saw your face.
I could feel the blood rush when our eyes first met,
A sort of adrenaline foreign to my body,
The warmth of your skin as it whispered against mine,
Resuscitated a hope once lost,
Now we’re a thousand miles apart,
But the distance blurs when I remember being in your arms,
The tenderness in our first kiss,
And memories become real, if only for a moment,
I found my voice,
Because you are my song,
I found courage in your eyes,
And now I’m not afraid.
