The Forbidden Art: Another Side, Another Story Empty
PostSubject: The Forbidden Art: Another Side, Another Story   The Forbidden Art: Another Side, Another Story EmptyTue Apr 30, 2013 8:48 pm

This is TFA!!! REVAMPED AND READY FOR TAKEOFF!!

WWEEEEEEE!
Okay I'm done.

So rules for people who were in the original TFA. You can't use the same characters. Suck on that! Same magic rules apply. Don't go rogue. That'll suck. I'll copy and paste the magic rules from TFA 2's OOC. Dear Lord this will get confusing fast. Anyways:

This is the OOC for The Forbidden Art.

Plot:

No one ever thought that using their given powers would be a horrible mistake. However, when scientists realized the implications of using magic, it had already been too late.

Not long after the catastrophe, the use of magic was banned. Any and all users would be put to death immediately, children included. Due to the lack of the “sorcery carrying” gene, it had become more and more rare. A few hundred years after the law had passed, magic became a myth. Lore was renewed to its former glory. People forgot.

A group of inbred, insane sorcerers, the Chosen, as they call themselves, decided to bring back sorcery. They also decided on genocide, where only the magically affiliated, the “strong,” will survive. They are powerful and dangerous; the only way to kill them is to fight them with a long buried secret: the enchanted weapons that destroyed their ancestors.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Rules:
1. Regular forum rules apply. (No godmodding, bunnying, ect.)
2. If you are a mage, please remember that it is not a free pass to play god. No making huge storms with hurricanes and hail or fire that just goes randomly goes out. Fire must be put out the way you would put out an actual fire. Mages have a lot more difficulties than someone regular so just… yeah, if you were in TFA before you’ll understand.
3. Grammar. Please use correct grammar. "They walked to they're supermarket over their." Please... don't.
4. Have lots and lots of fun!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I will be accepting character biographies in the following format:

Code:
[b]Name:[/b]

[b]Gender:[/b]

[b]Race:[/b]

[b]Age:[/b]

[b]Class:[/b]

[b]*Appearance:[/b]

[b]*Items/Apparel:[/b]

[b]Personality:[/b]

[b]**History:[/b]

* - Means please go in depth
** - Means optional

If you involve the Chosen in your history, please remember that this is a recent occurrence, as in, within the last year.

I’m willing to allow exotic races in, however, I’d like to keep a pretty level playing field so that people do not have an overwhelming advantage. That means no angels or demons, immortals, or something along those lines. I’d prefer if most characters were humans or human-like (I.E. the classic elf or dwarf).

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Available classes:
  1. Warrior – Archery, Sword, Double Wielding. Warriors are extremely strong and resilient, less likely to go down in a fight. However, they are slightly weak to magical abilities.
  2. Rogue – Dexterous and sneaky. They are able to avoid detection and blend with the shadows. However, they are weak towards the brute strength of warriors.
  3. Mage – Can manipulate the elements around them. Mages are extremely strong from a distance, but if hit, they are down. Also, limitation as to how much magic they can use, since magic will drain them fairly quickly. Element must be present for use and within reason, as in, no huge waterfalls of death from a puddle. Still, you may get creative! Lightning can be generated from the static electricity in the air, water taken from surrounding plants. Only two compatible elements for each mage. I.E. You cannot control both fire and water. Fire and lightning are okay, since lightning can cause fires. We can have repeat elements if desired. Also, second element must not be shown right away in the story. So choose carefully!
  4. Paladin – Either a warrior or rogue who hunts down mages. Will have a bonus to magical resistance but will most likely be a loner from the mages in the role play.
Name: Alreis Enstringe
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Age: 23
Class: Mage (Ice and Light)
*Appearance: He’s about six and a half feet tall, full, thick black hair almost reaching down to his eyes, very pale. Thin-lips; small ears; sharp, almond-shaped eyes the color of a frozen creek; strong jawline. Overall, nothing too irregular, though he is handsome. He’s wiry; slim-seeming but solid muscle. Alreis always dresses in pitch black clothing. He says it’s out of respect and mourning for all the townspeople from his home. He has long black trousers, torn and ragged at the hems, that drape over his coal-black, combat-scuffed boots, which reach a little past his ankle. A tight, form-fitting, long-sleeved shirt, with a slightly lighter black vest with a collar reaching up just past his lips. And over all this, he wears a dark black trenchcoat with a dark, bloody-red fur lining that almost looks like it’s black, and several rows of buckles instead of buttons, though he never buckles it up. He also wears black leather gloves which only cover his fingers up to the proximal joint, also scuffed and dirtied by rough use in battle. He has an insignia he calls “Libra Scales” monogrammed in silver on the back of his coat and on the backs of his gloves.
*Items/Apparel: He bears a long stream of clear, crystalline blue beads wrapped around his left arm, and a spear at his back called Levithein. This spear is nearly as long as he is tall, being made of a strange kind of metal that is stronger than titanium and sky-blue. The head of the spear is a dragon's head, with draconic wings forming the cross-guard. It feels cold to the touch, like all the world's winters compressed into a single object.
Personality: He’s very.... distant. Not mean, just disconnected. He doesn't always notice when someone’s talking to him, especially in groups, and he doesn’t chat much, opting to act instead. He almost never expresses emotion in the company of others. He’s the type to get his job done with as little fuss or distraction as possible, always setting himself and his party straight to work.
PostSubject: Re: The Forbidden Art: Another Side, Another Story   The Forbidden Art: Another Side, Another Story EmptyTue Apr 30, 2013 9:43 pm
Name: Katiana Muer
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Age: 25
Class: Mage. Fire and Light
Appearance: She’s very short, only reaching five foot. She has an overall cherub appearance. She’s neither fat nor skinny, simply her with a shapely figure. Her breasts lean towards the large size but it’s nothing to ogle over. She has a fantastic arse, heart shaped and full while not jutting out and knocking over random cups and silverware. Her hair is long, a light brown with natural highlights. Usually, it is pulled back into a messy bun. Despite this, short pieces of hair cascade from her bun and get in her face. Her eyes are bright and round, a gentle motherly brown. Her face, like her butt, is heart shaped.
Items/Apparel: She constantly changes clothing due to her job at the tavern. Her usual garb is a white peasant blouse with strings in the front that can come undone. The sleeves reach her wrists. She wears brown slacks with it that compliment her figure. Her shoes are nothing to look twice at. She carries a dagger in a sheath on her hip for protection.
Personality: Despite her clumsy and ditsy ways, she landed a job at the local tavern. There, she smiles gently at the drunks, smacks away groping hands, and occasionally accidently whacks men over the head with their own beer mug. She enjoys simple jokes and nods eagerly (and blankly) at complicated ones. She’s not too shy to speak her mind and she’s not too outgoing to say it loudly.
Name: Terorahron Lector
Gender: Male
Race: Afro-Japablack (a race of superior humanoid beings with advanced mental thinking and endurance. They have strong will-power and brute force. African-based Japablacks are called Afro-Japablack. Japanese-based Japablacks are called Japo-Japablack)
Age: 240 (appears 24)
Class: Paladin (Warrior-sided)
Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant - Masters of unarmed combat possess the greatest prowess of all, being capable of easily taking on several opponents at once with ease. As a Paladin Terorahron can focus anti-magic essence into his attacks to weaken Mages in physical combat or, simply put, fight magic with melee
*Appearance: Terorahron is an average-appearing human with caramel brown skin, a lean-built body and overall an athletic and fit physique, height around 7'4". He keeps a calm demeanor despite unwanted circumstances. Terorahron has soft sharp green eyes, shoulder-length unkempt white hair and is surprisingly blemish-free. His canine teeth are much more sharp than other humans, mutated from living with a dragon the majority of his life. His nails are sharp as well, but not outstretched like claws.
*Items/Apparel: Terorahron dons a white crew neck shirt with a red collar, black formal pants that just reach over the knees with a few chains hanging from the pockets and belt straps, black fatigue books and a black pea coat with thick grey spiky fur trimmings around the neck and the sleeves' edges, draped on him like a cape. On his legs are silver vambraces and solarets and poleyns, and his arms covered by vambraces and gauntlet cuffs and pauldrons with a black moon on it. All that he wears is made of a mineral with iron-like properties but also are electric insulators. He also has bronze and black headphones that play all rock, metal and dubstep songs which are also electric insulators
Personality: Terorahron is considered to be very jovial and fun-loving and isn't afraid to speak his mind and is prone to talking back to authority, no matter the power level. Terorahron has patience to make wise old men seethe in anger, and could wait days for an answer to a question. In short, his persistence knows no bounds. He's somewhat protective of strangers, but will always defend against those who harm immediate close family / friends. Hurt them and you'll be regretting to have ever done so. Otherwise, it'll be a small talk and a good swing of water and having a swell time
____________
Name: Rei Vermillion
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Age: 25
Class: Warrior
*Appearance: She is 5'11", 130lbs, and alluring blue eyes. Her hair is a subtle blue-gray color, is about waist length, and often hangs in front of her right eye. Her skin is flawless, and a mocha brown color. Image for reference
*Item/Apparel: She wears a tattered top, that covers her DD breasts, and stops at about her midriff, above that she wears a piece of plate mail armor that covers her chest, shoulders, and back, which doesn’t go as far as her top, but is very close. On her arms, starting at her wrists, and ending below her elbow is a metal plate. She wears plating at her thighs, rear and to cover her private with added loincloth and feather accent at the right hip. She carries a sword and shield
Personality: She is what could be described as Chaotic Neutral, not stopping until she achieves her goals
The Forbidden Art: Another Side, Another Story Empty
PostSubject: Re: The Forbidden Art: Another Side, Another Story   The Forbidden Art: Another Side, Another Story EmptyTue Apr 30, 2013 11:51 pm
The first RP seemed to have attracted quite a lot of people, and it seemed to have done great. It'll be nice to take part of it. Let me contribute by making this hilarious character of mine.
Name: Jeffrey "Jeff" The Killer
Gender: Male
Race: Undead Orc
Age: 24 years prior to resurrection. Recently revived.
Class: Paladin (Warrior-based)
*Appearance: Jeff is a hulking mass of decaying muscle and flesh walking on two legs. As a member of the Orc kin, he appears as a tall, large and heavy-built humanoid. The greenish color of his skin he once bore so proudly turned into a sick-pale green akin to azure. He stands at an impressive 7 feet and 6 inches tall and weighs more than 400 pounds. His eyes lost their color and turned to a blue so pale they almost look comletly white, blending with the sclera. His body is mostly intact, except for a few places along his arms and legs that rotted and left the muscles and a few bones exposed.
*Items/Apparel: Jeff carries nothing more than an impressive large axe. The weapon has no special properties beside from being forged by the hands of a master, making it a durable and sharp weapon. Despite its condition has suffered from the years spent in the soil with its wielder, but its edge remains sharp and dangerous. Jeff wears ragged black pants and a torn white shirt, completing his already zombie-ish look. An old and dirty pendant of his Orc tribe still hangs around his neck.
Personality: Far from the common undead, Jeff still has a mind of his own and the intelligence he had in his previous life. He is short-tempered and violent when provoked, but he has an unnatural calm demeanor outside of battle or towards those who dare speak with him. “Dead men don’t speak” doesn’t apply to him, as he loves to talk and laugh as much as he loved to drink. He’s a great drinking companion and someone to have fun with, when overlooking his dead state. He hates Mages to the highest point, but will not outright attack one before he senses hostility. Exception to this is the Mage group naming themselves “The Chosen” for bringing him back from the grave.
**History: Jeffrey has no memory of his past, a side-effect from being brought back to life by Necromancy. From his physical state, one would judge he has died much earlier than of natural cause. His dead appearance betrays how long he died, his body having been preserved after he died, thus making it impossible to say how long he remained dead.
Jeff was brought back to life quite recently, about a month ago, by the Mage organization known as The Chosen. As they developed their powers over Darkness and used the forgotten powers of Necromancy on his body, Jeff was brought back to life in an unexpected way. Necromancy still newly brought back on Lore, The Chosen not only raise his corpse, but also brought his spirit back from the afterlife. In a blinding rage of having his eternal rest disrupted, The Killer slaughtered those who brought him back from the dead.
After the incident, Jeff found himself unable to calmly return to his slumber, and vowed to hunt down those arrogant Mages to the last for what they did to him. And so, he presently wanders Lore in search of members of The Chosen to vent his wrath on and potential companions to help him do so.
Quick couple of questions, Aroro:
One, may I add Light to Alreis' repertoire?
Two, may I make a Sin Eating Pally?
i now present...THIS GUY!!!
_____________
Name: Ethan Rarea
Gender: Male
Race: Human/Avian
Age: 24
Class: Mage (Wind and Darkness)
*Appearance: Ethan is quite tall, about six foot four, and is extremely pale but quite handsome, with skin that is dotted with tiny scars. If you look very closely, the scars actually separate his face, not unlike a jigsaw puzzle. He has long and messy black hair, which is extremely knotted. His eyes are quite large and shiny.
*Items/Apparel: He dresses completely in black, with leather armor, a large cloak and hood, as well as black shoes. All of his clothing is designed to work alongside his powers, so he will have something to wear when he reforms. He carries a short sword, but prefers to use his "Friends" in a fight.
Personality: Ethan is extremely quiet and kind, and often polite to most people he meets, although he can be frustratingly vague at times. His lonely life makes him a little naïve when it comes to many things and doesn't have very many social skills.
Powers: Ethan's main power is the ability to literally split his body into a total of forty-six different pieces, each of which can transform into a shadowy form of avian life (usually crows). He can see out of the eyes of all forty-six at once, allowing him to see many different places at once, as well as fly. In short, he can turn into a flock of shadow crows.
His preferred method of attack is to turn into his flock, and tear his opponent to ribbons with their talons and beaks. If a crow is killed, it dissapates, and is absorbed into the other crows. This does cause strain to his body however, and if 58% of the crows are killed, the strain will kill him. When he wants to reform, the flock gathers close together, and reforms into Ethan's human form. He finds this quite painful at times.
He can also influence the actions of other avian life, and he has a friendly relationship with them. In truth, he prefers company of birds to people.
**History: Ethan was born in a relatively normal village, and lived a relatively normal life. One day, when he was playing outside, he noticed that birds would often stand close to him, and perch on his shoulder. He was a quiet child, so eventually the birds became the only friends he had. As the months went on, he saw that he could even influence their actions, and almost control them. He was so excited at this news, that he ran to his parents and showed them what he could do.
Unfortunately, he didn’t expect their reaction, which was for them to call the whole village, and they proceeded to pelt him and his bird friends with stones. He watched them die, before they turned on him. His memory is blurry, but he can remember an incredible pain of his body tearing itself apart, before seeing through several dozen pairs of tiny eyes before passing out, then waking up hundreds of kilometres away from his home, with no knowledge of how to get back, and feeling cold and alone.
He would have died, but once again, the birds came to his rescue. They shunned their own chicks, and brought food to him, aiding his recovery, even at the cost of their own offspring. Ethan recovered, and began to wander. The world had appalled him, but he was curious, and wanted to see more of it.
Selly: sure! Just put it in your bio. Remember, it won't be activated till later on in the story.
M ort and Max: Ummm... poop. Should a said this in the rules but unless you can BS a really good, scientific-like with magic (like water in veins in subsitiute for blood or something), there's no undead in TFA. If he was resurrected, he couldn't be a paladin. Magic is what keeps him alive so... if he negated that magic he'd die again.
Vulk: just put it anywhere, you can use your own format too if you want.
How are you planning on explaining that? Like are they physical, actual crows or like shadow crows? Cause physical actual ones would be impossible in the TFA world...
Will figure what to play. So, if I get this correctly, TFA is more of a scientific setting with a little bit of magic?
Hey, Aro? How accepting would The Chosen be of my werewolf character? I mean, they kind-of look down on non-mages, but at the same time they would be used to being hated by non-mages.... So how well would the werewolf fit in, if at all? I don't think we have any members of The Chosen yet, and it might be good to keep things evened out on both sides, you know?
Oh, also I plan on giving the character an extenting sword that can clamp onto things in combat, so would that be acceptable?
And yes, I am kind-of trying to keep thier gender from being known at the moment. So... yeah. Depends on which gender's more prominant in the RP and such at the moment, I guess. I don't know what I'm going to do with them. Maybe I won't even use a werewolf at all? You Can't Handle The Truth!!!!!
Max: Think of magic, in this RP, like clay. You can't mold the clay unless it's there. You can add to or take away the clay but it takes time.
For the most part, TFA's magical creatures are elemental. Fire, earth, water, so on and so forth. With Kailyn, I made it so that when she grew a plant it still had to be light out and she had to constantly give it water. For her, plant growth was an acceleration of cell division.
Fire requires oxygen to burn. So, let's say our characters were in space, Katiana wouldn't be able to use her powers. Someone with darkness magic in a pitch black cave would have an advantage. Someone with light magic outside in the sunlight would have an advantage.
It's all about manipulation, testing the creativity of your mind and making the readers go, "Hmm. That makes sense."
Further along the plot, for those of you who haven't read TFA one, will explain Magic, the history of the manaflayers, so on and so forth.
Deth:
....
....
....
You never can make things simple, can you?
I'm so confused. You wanna know how a werewolf will fit in with the Chosen? We had a giant ass tree last time.
If the extending sword has triggers, pulleys, and so on and so forth, it depends. What kind of clamping movement and how far of an extension? While the idea sounds pretty nifty, the logics of a weapon like that say that it'll get tangled up pretty easily, especially if it's auto withdraw. Like a rewinding leash kind of thing. Except bigger and even more complicated.
It's like the sword folds up like it's a club or something. The weapon's got a heavy blunt bit on each side that flips around to form the length. Then, the actual blade part of the blade slids out from the inner mechanism.
So he has a good blunt weapon against armoured enemies, he can extend it into sword mode and possibly clamp people with the sword halves as they come together, or just cut people in sword mode. Plus, this way he doesn't have to deal with the entire length of the blade while in wolf mode.
Oh gosh.... We aren't even 10 posts in yet and already everyone's trying to become friends with the only avalable woman.........
