PostSubject: RPer Survey: Drummy   RPer Survey: Drummy EmptyTue Aug 04, 2015 1:05 am

Shameless stole this idea from Arthur. His original For those interested.

So basically this just a feedback thread for me. Keep it role play related. I honestly don't care if you think I'm a terrible person or not. I've hosted some RPs and participated in quite a few. So there should be lots of things for you to comment on. Just some ideas for discussion: my characters (as a group or individually), IC posts, traits and devices common in my writing, my RP ideas, the actual running of my RPs.

Please provide specific feedback. Things like, "Everything you write is just ever so wonderful," and "You're absolutely awful go eat shit and die," don't really help much.

Also while you're here you might as well go revive some of the other discussion topics here. Go mingle people!

Okay, thought about doing this last night but I was sleepy.

Let's see, you already know my favorite of all your characters is Ursa Minor. Since she is retired though, I won't comment on her.

Tobi... I like her. Good job.

Kidding! =P

Tobi is cool because she is not transparent. Everything is not right there on the table when you start reading about her, like with Naida. Well, like it appears to be with Naida. You can see that Tobi is a little hung up on the past, but you aren't forcing the issue when it doesn't come up naturally. A lot of rpers, myself included sometimes, have a tendency to try to push their character's internal struggle to the front of every post. If they are angry about their parents, everything relates to that somehow. It quickly exhausts the drama in it and gets annoying. You are doing a great job of avoiding that with Tobi.

Improvements... Hmmm... I think her damaged side could show through a little more with Naida. I think you are making it a little too easy on Naida. Not that I want you to make it impossible, just maybe not so easy. Naida is supposed to be obnoxious, but Tobi seems to be not annoyed in the slightest.

That's all I can really think for improvements. It isn't even a big problem and you could probably ignore it with no negative results. I just wanted to give you something to think about.

I will try to do another character later. In fact I will make an effort to address one character per day for the next few days. No promises though.

You could still include feedback on her. I can apply it to other characters, and Michael Jordan has come out of retirement like 5 times, so there is still hope..... Rip deleted my winking face.

I've slipped tiny bits about Tobi being annoyed here and there, though I think you're right in that I haven't had her do anything to express it. Except maybe when she threw that sidekick thing in her face.

I may make it more evident as time goes on. I think she is a pretty forgiving and patient person all around. Love thy neighbor and all that jazz. I really should get caught up on my bible reading so I can know her better. She may express some annoyance soon, maybe when they sit down since Naida is starting to tease her a bit. Remember that at the moment she still feels a little bad about holding her at gunpoint, and thinks she is a child on top of that. It sounds like I'm making excuses but I will try more I promise....I may edit the radio bit so she doesn't let her change the channel. I'd have to tweak some of the pargraph though, and I'm worried that would effect the posts that came after.

I don't think you need to edit that. Like you said, she was feeling bad about the gun and all that. It does make sense. Also, she thinks Naida is like twelve. Maybe once she realises her actual age, her veiw on Naida will change a little. But ya, I do think she could express a little more irritation. Honestly, who could put up with a girl like Naida without being at least a little on edge?

I forgot what color I chose so this probably won't match my last post. =P

Edit: I guess I got it right with a random guess... Wow I am so impressive!

Ok, Tsana. I don't feel like I know her well enough to get into too much detail but I thought of a little something. One thing is that I like the way you use her power. She can do almost anything but you don't go crazy with it. I have always figured that if someone were born with that much power, they would use it kind of how we would use our arms. We use them all the time and without really thinking about it, but we don't flail them around and pick stuff up or smack stuff around just because we can. In the same way I don't think someone with that kind of power would be making random things happen for no reason other than because they can.

Sooo... Good job there. Besides that, she is very cute and endearing... I really can't think of any improvements. I'll get back to you if I come up with one.

I am glad you pointed that out. I completely agree. Her powers are ingrained in her so she rarely thinks about using them. They are more for convenience than anything to her.

Okay guys I have a question. When I encouraged Evee to make strong independent females I got to thinking about my characters, particularly my female ones, sine that is what most of my characters end up being.

I think I may be a bit of a hypocrite.I make a lot of characters (who are usually female) who may appear tough and independent on the surface, but I go through a great deal of effort to show their vulnerabilities or shortcomings. I feel like this makes them more realistic in a sense, as I firmly believe that we all need someone to lean on sometimes and most of my "strong" characters are the type who are too proud to admit it. At the same time I feel like this may undermine the character and play into gender stereotypes. So is this excusable, and if so is there a limit to how often it should come up? Can I character still be strong despite being emotionally damaged or vulnerable? Does that make them even more heroic?
